About
Driven by Passion
Eric Kunz is the 2024 Canadian TCA Champion, a title he earned after an incredible season in the Sports Car Championship Canada presented by Michelin (SCCC), the pinnacle of sports car racing in Canada.
The SCCC is a homologated, multi-class racing series that features fierce competition on some of North America’s most iconic tracks, including Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the Honda Indy Toronto, and the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.

Eric is driven to make his dream of becoming a professional race car driver a reality. His journey began in 2020 when he started karting at the age of 17 in an Arrive & Drive program. By 2021, he advanced to ROK Senior, finishing 3rd at the club level and 5th regionally. In 2022, he split his season between karting and pursuing his competition racing license.

In 2023, Eric made his debut in cars, competing in the SCCC’s TCA Class, where he finished as Vice Champion and was honored with the 2023 SCCC Spirit of Motorsport Award. Returning in 2024 with a clear focus, Eric secured the TCA Championship and now aims to move up in class to TCR or GT4 in 2025.
Fueled by Resilience
Motorsport is beyond a passion. Eric has an extremely rare disease and ironically, this adrenaline-inducing sport provides respite from his chronic pain. He says it feels like his illness disappears the moment the tires start to roll, and the heavy worries are replaced with immense joy, along with an enormous amount of gratitude for the privilege to race.
In addition to pursuing a career in racing, Eric is a SickKids Patient Ambassador and founder of Driven Living, a not-for-profit organization focused on raising awareness of rare diseases. Through Driven Living, Eric is also raising funds for the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children (a.k.a. SickKids) to help better support rare disease patients.
